Bhubaneswar: The Shikharchandi temple gate in Bhubaneswar has been closed until further notice after two elephants were spotted roaming the hill, sparking concerns for public safety.

The Forest Department has taken steps to ensure safety. The forest department also informed the Infocity police station after locking the temple entrance gate for the safety of the public, especially picnickers and tourists.

The elephants, two tuskers, have been on the hill for the past five days, feeding on banyan and peepal trees.

According to officials, they’re searching for food and have been camping in the area for four days. The Chandaka forest division confirmed the presence of the elephants, and tourists have been kept away as a precaution.
