Khurda: Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan, during his visit to Odisha on Saturday, fulfilled the criteria to be considered as active member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Chouhan, who is also the convener of BJP’s national membership drive, ensured addition of 25 new members in the party, during a district-level membership drive at Geeta Bhawan field in Khurda.
Around 2000 persons from various parts of the district formally joined the BJP at the event. While addressing the gathering at the event, Chouhan called upon the party members to prepare for the next general elections.
BJP Odisha President Basant Panda, Vice-president Prithviraj Harichandan and many local leaders among others had attended the membership drive.
Notably, BJP national president Amit Shah had launched the membership drive from Hyderabad on July 6. The party had declared that the members who ensure addition of 25 new members into the party from the same polling booth will be considered as active members.
