Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a Class X student appearing for the High School Certificate (HSC) examination, reportedly delivered a baby at a Community Health Centre under Ramachandrapur police limits in Jajpur district, on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at the Barachana Community Health Centre.
According to reports, the student, who had appeared for two HSC exam papers, was observing a fast on the occasion of Shivaratri on Wednesday. She fell ill and was admitted to Bari Community Health Centre, where she gave birth to a baby girl. As her condition deteriorated after delivery, she was rushed to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital.
The family members of the minor girl have stated that they will seek legal action once the student recovers.
AK Sharma, Additional District Medical Officer of Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), said, “Police will investigate the matter. She was brought to the DHH after delivering the baby at Bari CHC. She was supposed to take another exam today. The hospital has informed the police, who will now take further action.”
