Malkangiri: In a shocking and shameful incident, a 40-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping his own minor daughter at Drugline area under Orkel police station in Malkangiri district.
Accused Nitali Sarkar, a security guard at Balimela hydropower centre allegedly raped the girl forcefully on November 5 and threatened her to kill if she reveals it to anyone.
However, the 13-year-old girl narrated her plight before a neighbour. On November 8, Nitai had threatened her daughter again.
The girl exuded confidence and moved to the police station with the help of some neighbours.
Based on her complaint, police registered a case under sections 376(2)(f)/376(3)/506 IPC/R.W.Sec -4(2)/6 POCSO act.
“Sarkar has been arrested and forwarded to court. The medical examination and statement record of the girl was conducted in presence of magistrate, “IIC Dhiren Patnaik said.
Notably, Sarkar’s wife has been staying in her paternal house with her minor son after a family feud. The heinous crime took place in the absence of his wife.
