Dhenkanal: In a horrific incident of infanticide, a seven-month-old infant girl was brutally murdered by her father, Sanjay Chatar, allegedly due to a domestic dispute with his wife at Notaripasi under Kankadahad police limits in Dhenkanal district.
According to reports, Sanjay, a resident of Mayurbhanj, had a love marriage with Janani Munda, a resident of Kantapal’s 4th colony, and had been working as a tractor driver in Notaripashi.
The couple had been living with their infant daughter in Notaripashi for the past two years. However, their marital life was marred by frequent quarrels, with Sanjay reportedly physically abusing his wife.
Sanjay and his wife had a heated argument over buying rice last night. In a fit of rage, Sanjay allegedly killed their 7-month-old daughter by slamming her to the ground. Shocked and outraged by the incident, residents severely assaulted Sanjay at the scene. He was initially admitted to the Kamakhyanagar Hospital and later shifted to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition.
Kankadahad police have, meanwhile, launched an investigation into the incident and are gathering more evidence against the accused.
