Shreyas ‘Ragging’ Death: Parents Demand CBI Enquiry

**Bhubaneswar: ** The parents of Shreyas Kesharwani, who allegedly died due to ragging by his hostelmates, have demanded for a CBI enquiry into the incident.

According to Nilesh Kesharwani, uncle of Shreyas, “We have faith in the law of the land, but the institution in which Shreyas was studying is owned by very powerful people. So it is difficult for an impartial probe as the Vizag police may be influenced by them. Moreover, it is an inter-state issue now. The victim is of Odisha, the incident occurred in Andhra and the alleged culprits hail from Chattisgarh and Jharkhand. So we demand for a CBI enquiry into this case,”

A day after post- mortem report of Shreyas Kesharwani came out, a 4 member team police from Visakhapatnam had reached Rourkela to investigate the death. The report revealed that Shreyas had contusion in heart, pulmonary effusion and pulmonary embolism (blood clot inside lungs) prior to death.

The team had earlier interrogated the doctors at Care Hospital in Bhubaneswar where Shreyas breathed his last and reached Rourkela to discuss the case with doctors of Ispat General Hospital where Shreyas was admitted first.

After collecting reports from the doctors, the team moved to record the statement from his parents about this incident and went back to Visakhapatnam.
