Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch is set to conduct a polygraph test on Shankar Prusty, the alleged mastermind behind the Odisha Police SI recruitment scam, after he reportedly failed to cooperate with investigators.
Prusty has been providing unsatisfactory answers and allegedly misleading investigating officers, despite being presented with evidence.
Prusty, currently in judicial remand, will undergo the test along with Suresh Nayak, owner of Silicon Tech, as part of the ongoing investigation, the Crime Branch sources said. The tests aim to verify statements and gather clarity on key aspects of the case.
The Crime Branch will move to the court seeking for the lie detection test after the end of the remand period.
The Crime Branch arrested Prusty from Uttarakhand near the Indo-Nepal border recently, and he was brought to Bhubaneswar on Sunday. Prusty, the owner of Panchsoft Technologies, had been absconding since the scam surfaced.
The investigation involves significant irregularities in the police SI recruitment process, and officials are working to ensure a transparent and thorough probe.
