Siblings Abandoned By Father Rescued From Baramunda Bus Terminal

Bhubaneswar: Police today rescued two minor siblings from the Barmunda bus terminal in the city today.

According to reports, locals noticed the two siblings, an eight-year-old girl and her five-year-old brother crying helplessly at the Baramunda bus terminal who informed the Bharatpur Police Station.

Reportedly, the kids who hail from Kodala in Ganjam district were accompanied by their father had come here on Friday evening. He had told them that they were on a visit to their aunt’s place.

However, their father deserted them at the bus terminal upon arrival.

As their father didn’t return the children cried the whole night to be noticed by the locals in the morning. The siblings have lost their mother four years back.

On being informed by the locals, Bharatpur police rescued the siblings.

The children were later taken into custody by Childline based on the report of Bharatpur police and produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Bhubaneswar.

The Childline later handed over custody of the minors to Viswa Jeevan Seva Sangh (VJSS).
