Kalahandi: In a shocking incident, two siblings were charred to death at Talabora village under Lanjigarh block in Kalahandi district, on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as children of Bisi Majhi and Susari Majhi.
Two siblings, a five-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl, were playing inside the hut when their makeshift hut caught fire.
According to reports, the children’s mother, Susari, had left them alone in the hut while she went to collect firewood nearby. The hut made of dry leaves and twigs caught fire, trapping the children inside.
Despite Susari’s frantic efforts to rescue her children, they succumbed to their injuries. The distraught parents performed the last rites of their children in the village cremation ground.
This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community.
