Balangir: Two siblings died after being bitten by a snake while sleeping at their home in the Malgodam Pada of Balangir City on Monday night.

The victims, identified as Dukhi Shyam (7) and Mehak Rehman (3.5), were the children of Abdul Rehman, a resident of Malgodam Pada.

According to reports, the children were asleep at home when a venomous snake bit both children. After some time, both the children fell sick. As their condition deteriorated, Abdul took one of them to a traditional healer for treatment, while the other child was at home.

Later, when foam started coming out of their mouths, the family realised that the children had been bitten by a snake and rushed them to the hospital. Unfortunately, both children died while undergoing treatment.

The bodies of the children have been seized and sent for autopsy.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with family and friends mourning the loss of the young lives.
