Baripada: An elephant calf which got separated from its family was rescued by a team of forest officials today morning. The calf was born here few days back. However, its mother and siblings were shooed away the locals of Bhaliapada village in Morada block. The mother had come into Odisha from Dalma forest in Jharkhand.
The newborn elephant was lying in a poor condition in a farm. It was also sick. Baripada Division DFO, Swayam Mallick and Additional Collector Bibekanand Sahu rushed to the spot and rescued the elephant. A team of veterinarians have also reached the spot to treat the ill calf.
