Bhubaneswar: MLA and Advisor of the Sikkim Transport Department, Madan Cintury, visited the injured tourists of the bus accident at STNM Hospital in Gangtok. The tragic incident claimed one life and left several people missing, with many others sustaining critical injuries.
Cintury, accompanied by senior officials, met with two critically injured tourists from Odisha, Swayam Naik (16) and Sairaj Jena, who are currently undergoing treatment. Notably, BJP leader Itishree Jena from Odisha, reportedly a relative of the injured duo, is among the missing persons. A search operation is currently underway to locate the missing passengers.
During his visit, MLA Cintury assured the injured tourists and their families of full support and assistance from the Sikkim Government, led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay). The Chief Minister reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all tourists in the state.
The tourists involved in the accident hailed from Odisha, Tripura, and Uttar Pradesh. In response to the incident, a team from Odisha’s Transport Department is en route to Sikkim to provide further assistance to the victims and their families. The Sikkim Government’s prompt response and support have been appreciated, and efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe recovery of the missing passengers.
