Puri: Silver cladding of the Singhadwar or the Lion’s Gate of the Shree Jagannath Temple here and repair work of the Ratna Palanka (bejewelled bed) of Lord Jagannath and his siblings will be completed before the completion of Rath Yatra.
A decision in this regard was taken at the meeting of the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee here today.
“We mainly discussed two things. The first is the repairing of Mahaprabhu’s Ratna Palanka. A replica of it will be also made. The second was to undertake silver cladding of the Singhadwar. These works will be completed during Rath Yatra (the annual nine-day sojourn of Mahaprabhu and his siblings to Shree Gundicha Temple),” informed Ranjan Kumar Das, Chief Administrator, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).
Das said that steps will be taken for obtaining the necessary permission from the ASI for these works.
Mostly likely entry of devotees into the temple during the silver cladding work will be through the Uttaradwar (northern gate) of the temple, Das added.
