Bhubaneswar: Similiguda block in Odisha’s Koraput district recorded the highest rainfall in the state in the last 24 hours. The block received 158.0 mm of rain during this period.
As per the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here, Odisha received an average of 15.6 mm rainfall during the last 24 hours. On average, the state received 83.7 mm of rainfall in the first week of September against the monthly average of 231.9 mm of rainfall.
Four blocks in the state received more than 100 mm of rain during the last 24 hours. These blocks include Similiguda (158.0 mm), Boipariguda (121.0 mm), and Bandhugaon (107.0 mm) in Koraput district; Nabarangpur block (115.0 mm) in Nabarangpur district.
According to the weather office, the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has weakened resulting in decreasing intensity of rainfall in many parts of the state. However, the weather office has predicted the likelihood of another low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal around September 9.
