Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today reviewed the situation arising out of the blaze in Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) and directed officials to remain alert for its protection and take preventive measures.
Chairing a high-level review meeting over the issue, Patnaik stated that Similipal doesn’t belong to Odisha or country alone it is a valuable treasure of the whole world, said an official press release issued here today.
Participating in the meeting Additional Chief Secretary Forest & Environment Mona Sharma informed that the fire in Similipal has been brought under control. She told that there has been no loss of lives.
Sharma said that Special Operating Procedure (SOP) has been issued to control the blaze and added that big trees have not been affected.
She further informed that Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs) have been directed to inform the State government and district Collectors on fire alerts.
She said that Principal Chief Conservator Forest (PCCF) Wildlife is present at the spot and keeping a watch over the situation.
Secretary to Chief Minister (5T) V K Pandian and senior officials of the Forest department were present in the meeting.
