Bhubaneswar: The Similipal Tiger Reserve in Mayurbhanj district has reopened its gates for tourists today after being closed for six days due to Cyclone Dana.
The reserve was closed from October 23 to 25 and again from October 26 to 28 due to heavy rain. During this period, all previous bookings for cottage stays were cancelled, and tourists were not allowed to enter the reserve.
The Director’s Office of the Similipal Tiger Project announced that the reserve would reopen after assessing post-storm conditions. Similipal had reopened ahead of Durga Puja, attracting tourists from within and outside the state to enjoy their holidays. Unfortunately, the sudden storm caused a temporary closure.
It is important to note that Similipal is home to Bengal tigers, elephants, leopards, and over 200 bird species, making it an ideal destination for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers to spend their vacation.
