Bhubaneswar: Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and his wife visited Raghurajpur village in Puri district, on Saturday.
During their tour, they explored the pattachitra and various folk art forms. The villagers extended a warm welcome to the President and his wife, showcasing traditional Gotipua dance and cultural performances. The Singapore President bought two pattachitra artworks from the artisans of the village.
Odisha Deputy Chief Minister, Pravati Parida was present during the occasion, along with senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and Puri district administration.
On Friday, Tharman Shanmugaratnam and his wife visited visit to Kalabhoomi, crafts museum in Bhubaneswar and admired the state’s art, handicrafts, and handlooms.
It is pertinent to mention that the Singapore President kicked off his two-day visit to Odisha on Friday. He visited the crafts museum, Kalabhoomi, where he was joined by Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
During their visit, the President’s wife spent four hours at Kalabhoomi from 7.30 pm to 11.30 pm. They also purchased a saree and made the payment using UPI.
