Bhubaneswar: In a significant step towards enhancing national capabilities in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and next-generation defence technologies, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo inaugurated Odisha’s first state-of-the-art Deep Neural Network (DNN) Laboratory.
The laboratory, set up at Krystellar Defence and Aerospace in Bhubaneswar, aims to promote research in AI, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), Electronic Warfare, and other cutting-edge technologies.
The laboratory will provide a strategic platform for AI-powered innovation in defence, including missile defence, drone defence, and cyber defence. The Deputy Chief Minister encouraged the youth to work towards making India self-reliant in defence preparedness and appreciated the initiative of young entrepreneur Uday Bhanu Das in setting up the high-tech facility.
The DNN Laboratory will promote research in AI, UAV, and Electronic Warfare and provide advanced training programmes and workshops for defence personnel, scientists, and engineers. It will host collaborative projects with leading DRDO labs, aerospace PSUs, and domestic defence technology innovators and support key initiatives under ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
The laboratory is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future of warfare and national security. Brigadier L.C. Patnaik, Defence and Space Chairman, emphasized the need for AI-optimized frameworks, high-performance computing, and automated warfare systems.
Uday Bhanu Das, Founder and CEO of Krystellar Defence and Aerospace, said that the DNN Lab will act as a key enabler for the development of indigenous, mission-ready AI solutions. The laboratory is poised to support India’s vision of becoming self-reliant in defence technologies.
