Bhubaneswar: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has sufficient evidence against the arrested accused in the sensational murder case of a five-year-old girl of Jadupur village under Sadar police limits in Nayagarh district, said SIT Chief Arun Bothra on Monday.
Bothra informed that the accused have been interrogated repeatedly over the last ten days. He was arrested after gathering sufficient evidence against him. The details of the case will be shared in a press conference after producing the accused in the court today.
The SIT chief however revealed that during the initial probe it was found that sexual assault is the motive behind the crime. The investigation is not over, the SIT will seek time from the court to submit the charge sheet following which the accused will be put on trial.
Bothra further said that while the main accused has been arrested, there is a need for further investigation if he has any partner in crime. He added that he is satisfied that his team has done a good job while working under a time limit and a lot of media glare.
