Bhubaneswar: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing into the rape and murder of the minor girl of Jadupur in Nayagarh, has written an email to Google to retrieve the Internet browsing history of accused Saroj Sethi.
SIT Chief Arun Bothra today informed that since India shares the mutual legal assistance treaty (MLAT) with USA, obtaining the records from Google will be easy and smooth. The Internet browsing history will be a crucial piece of evidence in the investigation and framing the chargesheet, he said.
“The accused admitted that he was addicted to watching pornography. However, Saroj used his elder sister’s cell phone for this purpose. Since his sister is a working lady, Saroj used the phone for this purpose at night,” informed Bothra at a press meet today.
However, Saroj ensured that he deleted the browsing history every night after watching the porn videos. This was because the next morning his sister would take back her cell phone. “When we scanned through the phone, the entire browsing history was deleted, except a one link – How to delete Internet history,” said Bothra.
The SIT Chief added, Saroj had confessed that on 13th July night, he had extended till around 4 am (beyond his regular schedule) to watch the porn videos on Internet. “We have written to Google to help us in retrieving the data and have got a response to go through the MLAT way,” he added.
