Bhubaneswar: Odisha is slowly limping back to normalcy as the water levels in all rivers have receded and are flowing below the danger level.
“Flood situation is gradually returning back to normal,” informed Bijay Mishra, Engineer-in-Chief of the Water Resources Department.
Mishra said that all rivers are flowing below the danger level.
Preparations are afoot for restoration work of embankments in the Mahanadi system where seven breaches were reported, Mishra added.
He said that there are no reports of any breaches in the Subarnarekha system except for the ingress of floodwaters in the low lying areas of Bhograi, Jaleswar, Baliapal etc.
The EIC informed that the water level of Baitarini river has also receded and it is flowing below the danger level.
There are no breaches in the river Baitarini system, except the one in the embankment of its distributary river Kani and it has been temporarily restored.
