Rourkela: Raghunathpally police in Rourkela arrested six persons for allegedly running a betting racket during IPL matches and seized 20 mobile phones, three laptops, four ATM cards and other electronic equipment from their possession on Thursday. The police have also frozen eight bank accounts used for transactions of the betting money.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the betting, Raghunathpalli police raided a house in Civil Township in Rourkela and nabbed six persons while they were trying to flee the place. All the accused have been charged and produced in court on Friday.
According to the police, the accused persons were running an online betting racket through the website rajveer.exch.com. They were luring the people with 5 to 10 times returns on the stakes and were using the bank accounts for the illegal transaction.
