Planning Dacoity

Bhubaneswar: In a significant breakthrough, Plantsite police in Rourkela arrested six persons  late Friday night while they were allegedly preparing to commit a dacoity near the Timber Colony vegetable market.

The accused have been identified as Pawan Sahu, Sumit Singh, Kanhu Naik, Aditya Sahoo, Bilal alias Banti Mansoori, and Rahul Pradhan alias Dholu.

According to an official press release, Sub-Inspector D.K. Dalai and his team were conducting night patrolling in the Plantsite police station limits when they received reliable information about a possible criminal gathering.

Acting swiftly, the police apprehended the suspects from a secluded spot behind the Timber Colony vegetable market.

The six were reportedly armed with lethal weapons including a sword, bhujali (machete), knives, socket pipes, and iron rods. Preliminary investigation suggests they were preparing to loot passersby, residential houses, shops, and a nearby petrol pump.

Police said the prompt response helped prevent a major crime. All six accused were produced in court today.
