Bargarh: The district agriculture department has scrapped the licences of four shopkeepers and suspended the licenses of two others for allegedly selling spurious seeds in Bargarh.
Chief District Agriculture Officer Prasanna Mishra informed about the action.
The nodal officer of the agriculture department conducted raids at various places after receiving complaints about fake seeds. A large quantity of fake seeds was seized from the traders during raids. The license of four shopkeepers has been scrapped while the license of 2 people has been cancelled after the nodal officer ordered the action, Mishra said.
On the other hand, even after the action, the traders are accused of bringing and selling fake seeds from the neighbouring states.
The farmers have demanded a massive crackdown by a special team of officials in village areas to control the spread of fake seeds.
