Baripada:  In a significant crackdown on wildlife crime, six poachers were arrested by forest officials with the seizure of a leopard skin in Karanjia range here in the Mayurbhanj district on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, a special team was formed under the guidance of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Karanjia, to investigate the matter. The team successfully apprehended the six individuals, who are currently being questioned.

A thorough investigation is underway to unravel the nexus behind the illegal wildlife trade. Further details will be shared once the investigation is complete, forest officials said.
