Puri: Six more persons have been arrested in connection with the clash between villagers of Alanda and Tichhini in Alanda panchayat under Krushnaprasad block of Puri district during the first phase of the panchayat polls.
During the first phase of polling on Wednesday, a few people had allegedly barged into a polling booth and attacked some persons of Tichini village. Over 30 persons had been injured in the clash.
Following the clash, Krushnaprasad Police had arrested eight persons of Alanda yesterday. The case had been taken up with the topmost priority by Puri Police.
After the registration of the case, Krushnaprasad IIC and his team conducted a raid and apprehended the another six accused persons. All are residents of Tichhini.
They are Surendra Barik (34), Ananta Barik (35), Kedar Tarei (45), Surendra Nath Jena (46), Meghanath Sahu (25), and Bhagaban Sahu (58).
Further investigation of the case is in progress and the accused persons involved in this incident will be arrested and forwarded, said police.
