Bhubaneswar: Temperatures started soaring above normal across the state, signaling an early heatwave in Odisha. The unseasonal warmth has been felt in several districts, setting the stage for a potentially scorching summer.
According to the India Meteorological Department, Jharsuguda recorded a sweltering 37°C on Friday, 3°C above normal, while six other locations reported temperatures above 35°C. The mercury stood at 35.2°C in Sambalpur, 35.6°C in Hirakud, 35°C in Titlagarh, 35.6°C in Parlakhemundi, 35°C in Bhadrak, and 34.4°C in Bhubaneswar.
The state’s weather is expected to remain dry, with temperatures set to rise further. Daytime highs could climb by 2-3°C over the next two days, accompanied by a similar increase in nighttime temperatures. The minimum temperature is also likely to jump by 2-3°C, ensuring the heatwave persists.
