Bhubaneswar: This is the first week of February and the mercury has already starting soaring alarmingly indicating an early and intense summer in Odisha. According to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, the capital city recorded 34.4°C at 2.30 pm on Sunday suggesting what the people might have to bear in the coming days.
In fact, several parts of the state have been witnessing a rise in day and night temperatures since the last three days. The highest maximum temperature of 36.67°C was recorded at Bolangir, followed by Titilagarh (36°C), Parlakhemundi (35.8°C), Jharsuguda (35.6°C), Sambalpur (35.1°C), and Bhavanipatna (35°C).
While the weather conditions are unlikely to change significantly, the MeT has warned of dense fog in at least 10 districts in Odisha during the next two mornings. A yellow warning for dense fog for 24 hours has been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul and Dhenkanal.
