Bhubaneswar: In a heart-wrenching yet inspiring story, a 6-year-old boy’s life was cut short in a tragic accident, but his parents’ decision to donate his organs has given new life to two persons in need of transplants.

As per reports, the young boy, a resident of Baripada’s Murgabadi area, suffered severe head injuries when a 3-quintal gate fell on him on May 6. Despite being rushed to the hospital and receiving treatment at a hospital in Balasore and later at SUM Ultimate Medicare Hospital, the child’s condition deteriorated, and he was declared brain dead after two apnea tests.

After the child’s death, with the noble intention of saving others’ lives and bringing happiness to other parents, the child’s parents decided to donate their child’s organs and informed the hospital authorities to ensure that his legacy lived on.

The hospital informed the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO), and the organ donation and transplantation process was completed.

In a remarkable display of compassion and generosity, the parents decided to donate their child’s organs. The child’s kidneys were harvested at SUM Ultimate Medicare Hospital and transplanted into two patients at AIIMS Bhubaneswar and a private hospital in the city.
