Bhubaneswar: The 6th State Finance Commission submitted the final report to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan on Wednesday.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also launched the ‘Samikshya’ portal, which will provide real-time information about the progress of implementation of projects like roads, drinking water supply, sanitation, street lighting, parks and public utilities under the State Finance Commission (SFC) and Central Finance Commission (CFC) grants.
Citizens, elected representatives or any person can access the portal through the link ttps://samikshya.odisha.gov.in and monitor the progress of the implementation of the projects.
Presiding over the meeting, the Chief Minister advised the officials to improve the economic parameters of Odisha, change the structure of the Panchayat level, increase the standard of living of the people, improve the condition of every village and urban area and strengthen the foundation of a prosperous Odisha.
It is pertinent to mention that the report submitted by the Commission has emphasized on strengthening the financial infrastructure of local bodies through a predictable and formula-based system. Special attention has been paid to the consideration of equity, regional disparities, and the distinct needs of rural and urban areas. The Commission has made both financial and non-financial recommendations for the overall development of local bodies.
In the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shashwat Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Finance Department Sanjeev Mishra, Secretary to the Electronics and Information Technology Department Vishal Deb, Secretary to the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department Girish S.N. were prominently present.
The report was submitted to the Chief Minister by the Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Arun Kumar Panda.
On this occasion, along with the 6th State Finance Commission (SFC) members Professor Asit Ranjan Mohanty and Dr. Bibhu Prasad Nayak; Member Secretary – Dr. Satya Priyya Rath, Senior Member and Director, Municipal Administration Arindam Dakua were prominently present.
