Bhubaneswar: The Gundicha Temple reopening for the general public, scheduled for December 1, has been put on hold for now. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) decided to defer the plan after reviewing safety concerns raised by the Additional Chief Engineer and Senior Supervisor, prioritising devotee safety.
According to reports, a recent inspection of Gundicha Temple, carried out as per the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee’s recommendations, led to the initial decision to reopen the temple to devotees from December 1.
However, the Additional Chief Engineer has stated that the ongoing repair and conservation work inside the temple requires more time. The Senior Supervisor has also pointed out that the temple gardens and surrounding areas need urgent cleaning and development to ensure devotee safety.
Given these concerns, authorities have decided to put the reopening plan on hold until the necessary repairs and maintenance work is completed.
It is learnt that a new reopening date for Gundicha Temple will be announced once the work is done
