Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has lodged a written complaint regarding the unauthorised presence of non-servitors in the chariots during the Rath Yatra of Holy Trinity at Singhadwar Police Station, Puri, on Tuesday.

Ajaya Kumar Jena, OSD (Development), SJTA, has filed the complaint seeking stern action against the unauthorised presence of persons and non-sevaks (servitors) on the chariots of Lord Jagannath and His sibling deities during Rath Yatra.

“…..We have noticed the presence of some unauthorised persons/Sevaks in the Chariots of Lords during this year’s Ratha Yatra. This is a clear violation of the Byabasthabali that has been formulated for the smooth management of this year’s Ratha Yatra. We are submitting herewith two nos. of still photographs & two videos in respect of the Chariots of Lord Jagannath & Lord Balabhadra wherein it is noticed that some unidentified persons were found on the top of the Chariots & down below on the wheel of Chariots on 07/8th July during this year’s Ratha Yatra.” Read the letter.

Adding on more, the letter stated, “You are requested to identify the wrongdoers & take necessary action as per rules. Further, the name of the persons atop the Chariots may please be verified & intimated to us for necessary communication to their higher authority to take suitable disciplinary action.”

The letter was submitted at the Singhadwar police station along with evidence which includes, two photographs, a pen drive containing two video clips, and a copy of Byabasthabali, 2024, highlighting the paragraphs containing details about guidelines regarding Rath Yatra.
