Puri: In a first-of-its-kind move, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has introduced a parking fee for vehicles at all Bhakta Nivases (guest houses for devotees) under its control in Puri. The new rule came into effect on January 7, marking a significant change in facilities management for devotees staying at temple-run accommodations.
As per the new arrangement, devotees will be required to pay ₹500 per four-wheeler for parking. The fee, which includes GST, will be applicable for parking a vehicle for a period of up to 24 hours.
The parking charge will be collected at four Bhakta Nivases that function under the administrative control of the SJTA. Officials stated that the decision aims to regulate vehicle parking and improve infrastructure management at these facilities.
The temple administration clarified that the parking fee arrangement will remain in force until further orders are issued.
The move has drawn attention as it is the first time that parking charges have been formally imposed at Bhakta Nivases for devotees visiting the holy town.
