Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has issued notices to two persons identified as Rabindra Barik and Jameswar Suar, for allegedly bringing unauthorised ghee into the Puri Jagannath temple premises. The SJTA has sought written explanations within seven days.
They have been asked to provide satisfactory explanations for their actions.
According to reports, the temple authorities had previously instructed the Suar Mahasuar Niyog to ensure that only Omfed ghee is used in the temple, and any other ghee is strictly prohibited. The authorities have also directed the senior supervisor and commander of the temple to take necessary steps to prevent unauthorized ghee from entering the premises.
The Chief Administrator of SJTA had also warned that any attempts to bring ghee sourced from outside will be met with strict action.
Though temple regulations strictly prohibit the entry of unauthorized ghee, Rabindra Barik of Bira Harekrushnapur in Puri district was caught carrying unauthorised ghee into the Srimandir. He was allegedly about to hand over the ghee to Jameswar Suar, a temple sevak, when temple officials intervened during an internal check and seized the material.
