SJTA To Start Ticketed Darshan Of Pilgrims At Puri Srimandir

**Puri:** The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) will soon start ticketed darshan of pilgrims, said Chief Administrator Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra after the meeting of the Puri Srimandir Managing Committee today.

The ticketed darshan will be conducted three or four times a day when there is fewer crowds at ‘Bhitara Katha’ – the last point of entry for devotees in the temple.

The Managing Committee has authorised Mohapatra to start the process at the earliest. A committee consisting of SJTA Chief, Puri Collector, SP, IG Central Range, three members of Managing Committee and concerned servitors have been formed in this regard.

Mohapatra informed that the ticketed darshans will be conducted during Abakasha, the usual morning ablution of the deities, near the ‘Bhitara Katha’. Further, during Gopalla Ballav, the first fooding of the deities, when the pilgrims can enter and exit the temple through the Beherana Dwara (South Gate).

The third ticketed darshan will be conducted during Madhyana Dhupa or the mid-day meal of the deities and fourth during Chandanalagi or the smearing of Lords with a sacred mixture of Sandal paste, musk and camphor.

The number of pilgrims to be allowed for the darshan will be decided by the committee, added Mohapatra.

Majority of the tickets, around 60 percent, will be sold online, 30 per cent will be sold at the counter and five tickets will be available with the Chief Administrator for emergency purpose.

The other important issues discussed in the Managing Committee meeting are approval of Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) towards investing Srimandir’s gold in ‘gold monetization scheme’ and government’s decision over recovery of land belonging to Puri Shankaracharya’s mutt.
