Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has requested OMFED (Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation) to open a separate depot for the 12th century shrine since the temple authorities have decided to use only OMFED ghee for daily temple activities.
In a letter to OMFED Managing Director, SJTA Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee requested the government-run cooperative to provide support in this regard.
Padhee stated that the temple authorities have decided to use only OMFED ghee for preparing Mahaprasad inside the temple and for lighting earthen lamps. The decision was discussed and agreed upon with relevant officials, he said.
Dr. Padhee emphasized that a separate depot would meet the temple’s requirements and prevent the use of adulterated ghee. Additionally, he requested OMFED to consider reducing the price of ghee as per the request of various servitors’ bodies.
The Chief Administrator also ordered measures to ensure only OMFED ghee enters the temple. The temple management has instructed the senior supervisor and commander to take necessary steps. Padhee warned of strict action if anyone tries to violate the rule.
