Bhubaneswar: Centre for Skill Development Training (CSDT) under the onus of Rama Devi Women’s University was inaugurated by Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo on Monday.
With a grant of Rs 90 Lakhs from the Department, the Centre aims at training the undergraduate and post-graduate students of the university to develop technical skills and behavioral traits in their respective domain.
For the academic year 2019-20, the Centre will train 420 undergraduate students of the university under seven different skill traits in collaboration with Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM).
The seven skill courses includes Medical lab Technology, Digital electronics, Unity Gaming & Animation, Computer accountancy, Retail & Hospitality, Fashion Designing, Heritage and Eco-tourism.
The course comprises of technical and soft skills aligned to National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), Sector Skill Council (SSC) job roles, Qualification Pack (OP) and National Occupational Standard (NOS). The basic course duration is 120 hours including theoretical and practical modules.
The skill training also includes strategic communication skills, grooming skill, professional etiquette, leadership qualities, customer service skills, financial literacy, IT skills, health hygiene & sanitation and entrepreneurial skills as per the requirements of different domains.
The Centre is expected to increase chances of students’ employment in their field or to inspire students to take more advanced and specialized training after completion of graduation. The Centre also aims at introducing many other skill development courses in subsequent years for women students based on feasibility and scope for employability.
