Bhubaneswar: First dose Covid-19 vaccination for 18-44 age group residents of the city will commence within a very short period of time, assured Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Singh.
“People in the 18-44 years age group have doubts whether we will open slots for the first dose. I want to inform you that within a very short time we will start vaccination programme for first dose beneficiaries in the 18-44 years age group,” Singh said addressing a presser here today.
The BMC Commissioner said that a few people in the 18-44 age group who had taken the first dose of vaccine had harboured doubts whether they will get the second dose within the time duration, “I want to clarify that all the 1,70,140 beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group who have received their first dose of vaccine we will ensure to provide them their second dose within four-six weeks of their taking the taking the first dose”.
As per the State government’s order vaccination campaign in the BMC area particularly for 18-44 age group will be intensified from Tuesday, he added.
He said modalities for the same are being worked out which will be soon shared with the public.
While informing that there are several students from the BMC area who are studying abroad and have to go abroad for studies wherein vaccination against Covid-19 is a criterion, Singh informed that registration for these students will begin from tomorrow through the 1929 helpline.
“We will ensure to get them vaccinated through a special arrangement,” he said.
