**Bhubaneswar: ** The Centre and the State government would spend around Rs 390 crores for the Smart City Project, said Vineel Krisna, CEO, Bhubaneswar Smart City.
“Initially, four major projects are to be taken up towards the formation of Bhubaneswar Smart City. First, Bhubaneswar Railway Station front area re-development, mainly the parking lot and bus stand as well as the main building of the railway station to be renovated. Second, the Satyanagar institutional area re-development plan. This 40 acres land, in possession of the government, would first be vacated and then be developed by building hotels, market complex and office complexes”, said Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi.
Third, the Shanti Nagar Slum Redevelopment Plan between Satyanagar and Saheed Nagar. And fourth, the increase of traffic signals from 24 and 64 signal posts, the Chief Secretary added.
Answering to the queries regarding the funds, he said,”196 crores has been provided by the Central Government, whereas the State is coughing out Rs 194 crores. Tenders will be out within a span of 2-3 months regarding these projects.”
“Rains are a matter of concern, but it is to be addressed by the BMC. Still, we would look into it,” snapped Padhi when asked about the role of the upcoming monsoons in executing these projects.
