Bhubaneswar: A youth was bitten by a snake at Anandapur Sub-divisional Hospital in Keonjhar district when he was asleep.
According to reports, the youth, identified as Baju Champai Boli from Gayalmunda village under Anandapur police limits, was attending to his ailing mother. On the fateful night, due to the shortage of beds at the hospital, Baju was sleeping on the veranda outside his mother’s ward when a venomous snake bit him on the hand.
The snake then slithered into his pant, causing him to cry out in pain. Listening to Baju’s scream, security personnel and other attendants rushed to his aid and managed to remove the snake from his pant.
Baju was rushed to the emergency ward and treated promptly. Fortunately, his condition is stable, according to hospital sources.
Following the incident, the security guard reportedly killed the snake.
On the other hand, there are complaints that the medical premises, including the surroundings and inside the medical facility, are not being properly cleaned which is why snakes are easily entering into hospital compounds.
