Snake Venom Racket Busted In Odisha Capital, 6 Arrested

Bhubaneswar: Forest department officials busted a snake venom racket and arrested six persons including a woman from the Forest Park area here today.

Forest officials have seized two bottles of snake venom from their possession.

The six accused persons were nabbed while they were trying to sell the venom for Rs 10 lakh, sources said.

However, one managed to flee the spot, sources added.

Sources revealed that acting on a tip-off, Forest department officials had been tracking the accused persons for two days and a four-member team of the department had conducted raids at two places. The accused persons who hail from Bolangir had come here to sell snake venom.

Forest department sources said that it would have taken about 3-4 years to the accused persons to collect this amount of snake venom.

Further, investigation into the matter is underway.
