Bhubaneswar: A school teacher and his 16-year-old daughter died after being bitten by a venomous snake at Charichaka village in Boudh district.
The deceased are Sushant Kanhar and his daughter Preeti.
The incident took place when Sushant and Peeti were sleeping at home when the poisonous snake bit them. They screamed in pain following which other family members got up and rushed them to Phulbani Hospital, where Preeti was declared dead. Sushant’s condition was critical, and he too succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
It is pertinent to mention that Preeti was a Plus II second-year student at a local educational institution in Gania. She had come home on the Dussehra vacation.
The incident has cast a pall of grief over the family and the community.
