Bhubaneswar: Two siblings lost their lives due to snakebite at Jamapadar village under Saintala police limits in Bolangir district on Thursday.

The victims, Bhabagrahi and Manika, were children of Bikash Sagar.

According to sources, the siblings went to bed after dinner but fell ill in the middle of the night. They were seen frothing at the mouth, a common symptom of snakebite. Family members took them to Saintala Hospital without delay.

As their condition worsened, they were shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research. Despite efforts, both Bhabagrahi and Manika succumbed to the snakebite while undergoing treatment.

The incident has sent shockwaves in the locality and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances responsible for the tragedy.
