Bhubaneswar: A fierce gunfight broke out between the security forces and outlawed Maoist cadres in the reserve forest under the Kantamal police limits in Odisha’s Boudh district on Thursday morning killing two red rebels.
According to reports, when the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Odisha Police were conducting a combing operation in the Parhel reserve forest this morning, Maoists hiding there opened fire at the security forces. The SOG jawans gunned down two Maoists in the retaliatory fire.
The SOG jawans recovered two bodies of Maoists and seized arms, grenades and other articles during the subsequent search operation.
Given the upcoming twin polls in Odisha, It is worth mentioning that anti-Maoist operations have been beefed up in the state, especially the border areas.
