Bhubaneswar: A shocking video aired on television showed a Soil Conservation Department assistant demanding a bribe from a farmer in Khaprakhol block of Balangir district. Following the video and the farmer’s complaint, the Odisha government took immediate action against the officials involved.
Prashant Seth, a casual employee of the Soil Conservation Department, was dismissed from service. Additionally, Soil Conservation Supervisor Prashant Dalai and Soil Conservation Extension Officer Seshedeb Meher were suspended from service. The action comes after Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo ordered an inquiry into the incident upon being informed by the Agriculture Department.
The incident has been thoroughly investigated, and a case has been registered at the local police station.
