**Berhampur:** While the whole world celebrated Father’s Day on Sunday as a mark of honour to his supreme sacrifice for the sake of his children and other family members, a son, hankering after parental property, allegedly killed his old father on the very next morning (Monday).
Such a shocking and condemnable incident occurred at Samarjhola village under Hinjili police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
While the arrested accused has been identified as Dibakar Rao (30), the deceased has been identified as Krishna Rao (60).
Sources said, accused Dibakar on Monday morning arrived at her married sister’s house in the village where his father Krishna Rao used to stay. Dibakar demanded his due share. Both father-son duo entered into a heated argument over the property dispute. The enraged exchange of words turned ugly and fatal when irate Dibakar allegedly started thrashing his father with an iron rod killing him on the spot.
Following such an untoward incident, the villagers caught hold of the killer son while he was trying to flee the spot after committing the crime.
Later, the local police were alerted and Dibakar was handed over.
Police seized the dead body and after conducting inquest, sent it for post mortem.
Further investigation was on.
