Bhubaneswar: Soumyajit Mohapatra, the boyfriend of software engineer Sweta Utkal Kumari had been interrogated on the first day after her body was found hanging in a rented flat in Chandrasekharpur area of Bhubaneswar, informed DCP Prateek Singh on Wednesday.
Singh said that Soumyajit had appeared at Chandresekharpur Police Station with his parents for the interrogation. As his mental condition was disturbed, his parents took him to their home and the Inspector-In-Charge of Chandresekharpur Police Station is in regular contact with them.
Soumyajit’s family has assured full cooperation in the case. Meanwhile, an investigation is underway based on the complaint filed by the parents of Sweta, the DCP added.
It is pertinent to mention that the police have registered an abetment to suicide case under section 306 against Soumyajit on the basis of the complaint filed by Sweta’s family. Her father has alleged that Soumyajit was harassing her mentally, physically, and financially.
