Bhubaneswar: A high-level committee formed by the Higher Education Department will visit FM Autonomous College in Balasore to investigate the death of Soumyashree Bisi. The committee will conduct a two-day inquiry at the college campus beginning today.
According to reports, members of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) that probed Soumyashree’s allegations of harassment against the HOD of the Integrated B.Ed department will face questioning by the investigating committee members today.
The acting principal of the college stated that they received a notice in this regard on Thursday. The notice directs all members of the ICC to appear before the committee on Friday.
The committee’s investigation will include a thorough review of the ICC members’ role in handling the allegations against the Head of the Department of Integrated B.Ed.
Notably, the ICC was formed on July 1 after Soumyashree filed a written complaint.
The ICC committee comprises six members, including Assistant Professor of Psychology Dr Jayashree Mishra, Assistant Professor of Physics Dr Mousumi Das, Assistant Professor of English Dr Minati Sethi, Senior Assistant Prabhat Kumar Maharana, Laboratory Assistant Bandita Parida, and President of Balasore Nari Sangh Gopamudra Mohapatra.
Additionally, four students identified as Omkar Rout, Mohit Kumar Sahu, Dipteshu Dey, and Jyotiprakash Biswal (currently undergoing treatment and exempted from appearing for now) have been asked to appear before the committee.
