South City Bar Was Operating Illegally, Tamando IIC Shunted Out

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today shunted out IIC of Tamando Police Station Pramod Patnaik for illegal operation of South City Bar which came under the jurisdiction of Tamando police limits.

“Since a bar was operating illegally in that area, Commissioner of Police (CP) Bhubaneswar & Cuttack has transferred Tamando IIC to the office of the DCP Bhubaneswar,” informed Bhubaneswar DCP Uma Shankar Dash.

He has been transferred on administrative grounds by the CP, Dash added.

The DCP stated that a murder case was registered at the Infocity Police Station on October 10 and during the course of the investigation it was found that a bar in Tamando area was operational till very late on the intervening night of October 9 and 10 and had violated Covid guidelines.

A case was registered for violation of Covid guidelines and further inquiry was being conducted, the DCP added.

Dash said that during the course of the inquiry it was revealed that the said bar’s licence had expired and it was operating without a licence.

“Today under the supervision of the Additional DCP- ACP, Inspector and police station staff raided the bar. Liquor available at the bar has been seized. Legal action under the provisions of the Excise Act and other laws is being taken. In this connection two persons have been detained at the Tamando Police Station,” the DCP informed.
