Malkangiri: Four employees of SOUTHCO in Malkangiri district of Odisha have earned praises for risking their lives to restore power supply to over 20 villages which were suffering in the dark for the last two days.
Reportedly, the villages had lost their electricity after heavy rain on July 5. On getting the information a patrolling team of SOUTHCO including linemen Shankar Patra and Trilochan Sahu along with laddermen M Mohammed and Sukra Sisa had gone to find the fault.
During the investigation, they found that an 11kV electrical wire from MV-7 feeder to MV-16 village has snapped due to heavy rain. As the spot where the wire had snapped had no road connectivity, they had to cross a tributary of river Tamsa.
Despite heavy rain and powerful river current, they entered the water and repaired the snapped wire restoring power supply to all the villages in the area. Villagers have praised the four and termed them as actual COVID Warriors.
